Chickenpox is a common childhood ailment and almost a rite of passage for parents and kids alike. If your child has chickenpox, you know how hard it can be to stop your children from scratching. Chickenpox is very itchy after all! But if your children scratch their chickenpox sores then it can result in infections and chickenpox scars. There are a lot of home remedies for chickenpox itchiness that give your child relief using natural ingredients.
Home Remedy for Chickenpox Itching
Vitamin E oil is a great home remedy for chickenpox itching. Vitamin E oil should be applied directly to the skin in a thin layer. Use up to two times a day to stop chickenpox itching. The benefit of vitamin E is that it will not only work as an excellent home remedy for chickenpox itching but it will help the skin heal faster and with less scarring.
Herbal tea is another home remedy for chickenpox itching. A caffeine-free herbal tea can be given.
Honey can also be used on a child with the chickenpox to stop itching. Honey is an amazing substance. Aside from being delicious, honey is also a natural antibiotic ointment. Real, organic honey keeps well forever. It may be sticky and messy but it will stop chickenpox itching immediately. Just be careful because babies and very young children can get sick from eating honey. This might be a better home remedy for older children who have chickenpox.
Aloe Vera is an excellent natural home remedy for chickenpox itching. Simply apply a thin layer over the area and let dry. Aloe Vera gel can be purchased at the store or you can grow it yourself. It works well for many home remedies and is easy to grow.
Green Pea water is another natural way to stop chickenpox itching. An easy way to use green pea water is to cook peas on the stove. Drain the peas, but save the water. Let cool, soak a washcloth in the cool green pea water, and then apply gentle to the affected areas.
Oatmeal is an age-old traditional home remedy for chickenpox itching. Add uncooked, dry oatmeal to a warm bath to help your children stop itching.
Any of the above suggestions are a great home remedy for chickenpox itching. Make sure to discuss with your doctor before using a home remedy on your children, just in case!
The most pressing symptom of arthritis is pain in the joints. Arthritis pain can be sharp or radiate from the joints to the nearby muscles, causing a decrease in mobility and affecting your quality of life. Prescription medication can be costly, and some people like to find organic remedies instead. Arthritis herbal supplements can help give you natural pain relief, working well either on their own or with your medication. However, make sure to speak with your doctor before trying any herbal supplement; this is ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT if you want to discontinue using your current prescription medication.
Arthritis Herbal Supplements for Natural Pain Relief
Remember to use caution! Always consult with your doctor before trying a new remedy, even natural ones. Arthritis herbal supplements do have real effects on the human body so it’s important to consult with your doctor first. Arthritis herbal supplements affect some people differently, so after talking to your doctor you can experiment with different ones to find the natural arthritis pain relief that works best for you.
Chondroitin, Fish Oil and Glucosamine Herbal Arthritis Supplements
The most popular arthritis herbal supplements are fish oil, chondroitin, and glucosamine. Fish oils are helpful in naturally treating joint inflammation (and fish oil also lowers your cholesterol, a nice bonus!). Chondroitin builds up fluid into your cartilage, improving the shock-absorbing ability of your joints. Chondroitin also helps control your weight; being overweight makes arthritis pain worse, so losing weight will substantially help with arthritis symptoms.
Glucosamine naturally treats arthritis pain because it helps rebuild cartilage. In some people, glucosamine slows joint damage over time.
Vitamins E and B for Herbal Arthritis Supplements
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that is traditionally used to treat arthritis by controlling inflammation in the joints. Vitamin B is an effective pain reliever, working most effectively in the knees. Vitamin B can also help stop joint degeneration caused by free radicals.
Ginger and Nettle Tea Herbal Arthritis Supplements
Ginger is an antioxidant that works well to naturally treat arthritis inflammation. Nettle leaf is another effective anti-inflammatory herbal supplement. Both can be taken as a tea or in a capsule form to help control arthritis pain and swelling.
While there is no cure for arthritis, it’s possible to lead a full life by controlling your arthritis symptoms. Natural arthritis pain relief is a good alternative for those looking to either supplement their prescription arthritis medication or to replace their need for over-the-counter pain killers. Just make sure to talk with your doctor before trying any herbal supplements.
Ear mites are small insects that mostly infect cats, dogs, and other animals, living in and around the ears of its host. These mites are big enough to be easily seen by the naked eye. Ear mites are extremely contagious, jumping from host to host through physical contact, and can cause swelling, pain, and itchiness. It’s important to catch and treat this condition early on. Below is an excellent all-natural home for ear mites.
How can you tell if your pet has ear mites? Symptoms of ear mites include shaking of the head and scratching at the ears in dogs and cats. Dark, waxy, spotted debris, like flecks of brown or black dirt, can also be seen inside the ears. Ear mites look like small white specks. You can use a cotton swab to gentle wipe up some of the debris and then examine it under a bright light to look for movement to confirm your diagnosis. Extended exposure to ear mites may lead to infection; more severe cases should be treated by your vet to avoid permanent damage.
Ear mite medications are usually made with oils that work by suffocating the mites. Here is an inexpensive recipe for an ear mite treatment you can make at home:
Home Remedy for Ear Mites:
Almond Oil & Vitamin E Treatment
You will need:
- A package of cotton swabs or cotton balls
- 1 oz. of Almond Oil
- 1 oz. of Vitamin E
- An ear dropper (preferably one you can close and store in the fridge to save the leftover oil for future treatments)
- Mix 1 ounce each of vitamin E and almond oil.
- FOR SAFETY PURPOSES: test a small amount of the remedy on a small patch of your dog’s skin (some place where he can’t lick it) and watch the area for 24 hours for possible irritation/allergic reactions. Do not use if irritation is present. If everything is okay, proceed to:
- Use an ear dropper to add two drops into each of your pet’s ears.
- Massage well into the skin in and around the ear, then allow your pet to shake its head.
- Gently remove the excess oil with a clean q-tip or cotton ball. The Vitamin E and Almond Oil combination works to drown the ear mites as well as heal the skin and soothe any itching and irritation.
- Store the oil mixture in an air-tight container and refrigerate between uses. Allow the mixture to reach room temperature before each use.
- You can also use baby oil in place of almond oil and vitamin E. Make sure to check your dog for skin allergies to baby oil first.
Ear mite eggs take about three weeks to mature into adult mites, so continue the treatment daily for a few weeks to remove all the ear mites. Make sure to give your pet regular flea baths and flea treatments in order to prevent mites and flea infestation.
